Our seed paper

Seed paper is a sustainable, eco-friendly alternative to traditional paper. At Growingpaper, we carefully select suppliers who share our values and commitment to sustainability. Quality is key — we test each paper type in our own garden to ensure it meets our standards.

Choose the Perfect Seed Paper Weight

At Growingpaper, we offer seed paper in three versatile grammages to suit your needs: 80g, 150g, and 250g. Whether you’re looking for lightweight flyers, sturdy greeting cards, or premium event materials, each option provides the ideal balance of quality and plantability. Tested in our own garden, our paper guarantees both vibrant blooms and a lasting impression.

Our priority is to ensure that the seeds in our seed paper actually sprout. That is why we print with specially adapted printers and with biodegradable ink. Because printing on growing paper with a regular printer or laserprinter will damage the seeds and they will no longer germinate. Our printers are adjusted in such a way that the seeds have enough space. Planting growing paper in the soil is carefree. Our ink is completely biodegradable.

With a growing paper card you don’t leave any waste behind. That fits perfectly in a circular economy! In a circular economy, we ensure that all products are reused for something else. Give your business mailing, marketing campaign, flyer or other communication a sustainable touch by printing it on growing paper. Your customers are not left with paper waste, but with flowers! Order your own design on growing paper.

Take good care of your growing paper and your words will bloom!

First make the paper very wet and place it indoors in a pot or outside in the garden on the soil. Cover the growing paper with about 1 cm of soil. Water your paper every day so that it stays moist. The first plants will germinate after about a week, but in most cases you see the first green sprouts in a few days. The best time to plant outside is from mid-May to October. Inside a jar it can be done all year round. Make sure to always provide sufficient light, heat and water.

The top 5 facts about growing paper

Growing paper is something very special. The structure and content are very different from regular paper, and the printing process is also different from normal printing paper. So here are the most important facts about growing paper at a glance:

  1.  Not pure white paper: each piece of growing paper may have a slightly different color and is usually not pure white like regular paper. This often gives it a rustic and natural look.
  2. Each seed has a different look: even within the same grammages, the colors are different. For example, the 250 g/m² paper with forget-me-not seed has a different look than the 250 g/m² growing paper with the bee/butterfly mix. If you would like to experience the difference within a grammage before placing an order, please contact us and we will be happy to send you a sample.
  3. Limited printing options: unlike regular paper, not every design can be printed on growing paper. Therefore, please familiarize yourself with our design guidelines before placing an order.
  4. Design deviations: designs on growing paper are not always perfectly centered and may show minimal deviations (mm range). This is due to the structure of the paper with the seeds. However, these minor irregularities add to the handmade and natural charm of the paper.
  5. Each growing paper is unique: Because of the production method, each growing paper product can be unique. This is because the paper may contain residue from recycled waste paper, including color chips, bits of letters and other remnants. These irregularities give each card an individual character.
